The Quick Fix
So many people nowadays want a quick fix for everything in life. These people believe there is a magic pill which can make everything all better. Most go through life just going through the motions, waiting for said fix to appear. And when this fix does not appear, these same people blame everyone but themselves.
As I lay here before going to bed and my final day of my summer job, I have been trying to figure out why this is. Is it easier to believe in the magic pill as opposed towards working for something? Is human kind destined to focus on the easy way out as some sort of adaptive mechanism? A quote from scrubs come to mind while pondering this.
“There are no magical fixes, it’s all up to you…Nothing in this world that’s worth having comes easy”
-Dr. Bob Kelso
Kelso is 100% correct when he says this. We as people need to go take chances, get dirty for what we believe in and work towards it. Why do something that you do not put 100% into? If you’re putting 10% in, this is just wasted time.
"Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led diffcult lives and led them well.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
I guess Teddy Roosevelt said it well in that quote. I began to wonder why it took so long for me to get to this realization. I eventually settle as some people will never get here.
